About Aru Valley

Aru Valley is a pristine meadow village 12 km upstream from Pahalgam, sitting at 2,414 meters in a wide glacial valley surrounded by towering peaks. This enchanting hamlet is the starting point for some of Kashmir's most celebrated treks — the Kolahoi Glacier trek and the Tarsar-Marsar twin lakes trek. With its wooden cottages, grazing horses, and snow-fed streams, Aru is the quintessential Kashmiri pastoral paradise.

Unlike the more developed Pahalgam, Aru retains a raw, village charm. The valley floor is carpeted with wildflowers in summer, while autumn transforms the surrounding birch and maple forests into a kaleidoscope of gold and crimson. In winter, the valley sleeps under deep snow, accessible only to the hardiest adventurers. Aru offers the perfect balance of accessibility and wilderness.
