About Gulmarg
Gulmarg, literally translating to "Meadow of Flowers," is one of the most breathtaking destinations in Kashmir. Situated at an altitude of 2,650 meters in the Pir Panjal range of the Western Himalayas, this bowl-shaped valley was originally called "Gaurimarg" by shepherds. It was renamed by Sultan Yusuf Shah Chak in the 16th century, enchanted by its wildflower carpets.
Today, Gulmarg is Asia's premier skiing destination and home to the world's second-highest operating gondola — the Gulmarg Gondola. In summer, the meadows explode with bluebells, daisies, forget-me-nots, and buttercups. In winter, everything transforms into a pristine white wonderland that draws skiers and snowboarders from around the globe.
